BIOGRAPHY
Born and raised in New Orleans, Ann is an oil painter living in Denver, Colorado. Her art education began at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and she continued her studies in the ateliers of some of the leading contemporary artists in the United States today. For twenty years, Ann has been practicing and teaching oil painting techniques in a contemporary style based on a foundation of practices handed down through centuries.
Many of Ann’s pieces are painted in a loose, impressionistic style. She often uses very thick paint applied with palette knives to achieve an exciting, light-filled look to her paintings. “My greatest artistic joy is expressing emotion through paint, and having those feelings resonate with others.”
With subjects ranging from huge sun-filled vistas to the turning petals of a flower, Ann observes and interprets scenes from her life which are universally experienced. She paints daily in a large workspace in downtown Denver filled with artists, artisans and craftspeople. Her paintings have been juried into national shows with the Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionist Society.
